If ever there was a man in drum & bass who needed no introduction, it’s D-Bridge. Having made his name as one half of Future Forces Inc, then again as a quarter of the legendary Bad Company, D-Bridge’s career has seen him push the D&B envelope time and again.
After gaining A-list status as part of these groups, Darren White went on to pursue a solo career that’s seen him garner even more success and recognition from yet wider audiences. An integral part of the Autonomic movement which single-handedly brought minimalistic drum & bass to the masses; an achievement that really can’t be ignored; D-Bridge’s approach to crafting music with integrity cannot be denied.
That’s a fact that’s borne true with another hugely successful team up with Goldie’s inimitable Metalheadz imprint. With several immense tracks already in the label’s back catalogue, including the veritable anthem that is ‘True Romance’, D-Bridge strips things back for this release, relying on effortlessly smooth production and a beautiful groove to carry it.
“The Little Things’ is nothing short of D&B perfection, encapsulating everything that made the genre exciting for those who shy away from menacing basslines and face-pounding beats. Instead this track is built on a foundation of warming chords and crisp drums, echoed vocal snippets and subtle bass notes that are perfect to see you through cold winter nights.
Meanwhile ‘Cornered’ sees D-Bridge return to his escapades into minimal and experimental drum & bass. Toying with different percussive elements and expanding reverbs, this track is truly different without sacrificing any of the all-important soul.
