Calyx & TeeBee’s debut album ‘Anatomy’, released in 2007 on their own label was an instant game changer; cited as a landmark album for the scene ‘Anatomy’ saw the duo unleash an almighty wall of sound that rocked dance floors across the globe as they took to the road with their 6 deck DJ sets, smashing apart sound systems in nightclubs and festival tents alike.

Now, five years later, hordes of fans are aching for a new Calyx & TeeBee album and the duo are definitely not going to disappoint. Signing to Ram Records, Calyx & TeeBee have produced a long player that sounds fresh, current and forward-thinking. ‘All Or Nothing’ is their sophomore offering and is packed with new ideas, exciting collaborations, stunning musicality and an incredible level of technical skill.

From the epic opening gambit, ‘Heroes & Villains’, it’s clear that Calyx & TeeBee have created something special with their new album. The D&B jazz fusion of ‘Pure Gold’ ft. Kemo contrasts beautifully with the vocal-led minimalism of ‘Strung Out’ and the hip hop excellence of ‘We Become One’, a collaboration with Foreign Beggars and DJ Craze. Then Calyx & TeeBee hit you with the rock-influenced ‘You’ll Never Take Me Alive’ featuring Beardyman, providing yet another inspired piece of deliciously different drum & bass. Each track on ‘All Or Nothing’ is crafted with expert precision and infused with a fresh and unique set of influences.

Ich finde die Aussage ganz schön vermessen. Ich kann mir eher vorstellen, dass das Album zwischen all den guten Releases der letzten Zeit gnadenlos untergeht. Ich mag ja dieses Genre im DnB an sich extrem gerne, aber da gibt es wirklich gerade andere, die derzeit Maßstäbe setzen in der Musik imo. Für mich tut das das Album keinesfalls und für mich sieht es ganz schön blass aus, wenn man es anderen Releases der vergangenen Wochen / Monate gegenüberstellt (um mal bei Alben zu bleiben: das von DRS zum Beispiel)
Ich würde Calyx & Teebee gerne als meine absoluten Helden aus der Trough The Eyes of a Scorpion- und Follow the Leader-Zeit in Erinnerung behalten

...


Ich hätte auch echt nix dagegen, wenn die beiden wieder getrennt voneinander produzieren würden.
Aber das Album wird sich voraussichtlich wegen des Hypes trotzdem gut verkaufen...
... was echt nicht heisst, dass es wirklich was taugt.

Die Tracks, die man noch nicht kannte und hier hören darf, sind imo eher uninteressant - bis auf 'Nothing I can say', aber das brettert in Sets bereits seit einem Jahr rum, wenn ich mich nicht irre..
Und 'Scavenger' wurde bereits vor gut einem halben Jahr rausgehauen.
'Elevate this sound' ist omnipräsent und nervt bereits
Was gehtn so bei denen ?!

Die wenigen verbliebenen Stücke müssten schon die Luft um mich rum zum Glühen bringen beim Probehören, wenn ich das Album kaufen soll... aber die gibts ja eh nicht auf Vinyl - dieses ach so üppig geratene Vinyl, OMFG !

Ich persönlich finde das Album ziemlich gut. Natürlich sind zwei der besten Tracks schon releast worden und auch einige andere hinlänglich aus Sets bekannt; aber ich meine, dass es selten ein so ernstes Album mit solchem Tiefgang gegeben hat.
